MPP Alumni

The entering MPP Class of 2012 will be the fifteenth MPP class to graduate from the UCLA Master of Public Policy Program.   MPP alumni are pursuing successful careers in the public, nonprofit, and private sectors.  However the public sector is still the preferred career field with 42% of MPP graduates accepting government positions. Collectively though, more graduates accept full-time positions in the nonprofit and private, for-profit sectors, and 12 percent opt to pursue additional graduate degrees.

MPP graduates accept positions at all levels of government.  In addition to the City of Los Angeles, MPP alums hold positions in the City of Santa Monica, City of Oakland, and other municipalities, there is a contingent of MPP alums in Sacramento at the Department of Finance, the Bureau of State Audits, and Sacramento-based nonprofits.  MPPs are also well represented throughout agencies of the federal government.  Many of these federal positions are held by current and former MPP Presidential Management Fellows (PMF), while other secture positions through other means.

MPP alumni are also geographically disbursed.  Whereas about half of the MPP alumni remain in Southern California, half accept positions in Northern California, Out-of-State, in the Washington, DC area and abroad, further evidence of the national stature of the UCLA MPP program.

In order to build a stronger and more vibrant alumni base, the Department has created an Alumni Council will serves as an advisory board for the Department and a valuable resource for MPP student, internships, projects, and professional development.
